Leon Hendrix, brother of "music legend Jimi Hendrix", after acquiring a 'commission' from his Dad James A. Hendrix, embarked on what he believes to be Jimi's wishes, in his name, to 'give back' to the 'community'.
In the form of a 'not for profit' foundation, henceforth named The James Marshall Hendrix Foundation, he plans to create a number of 'community outreach programs' ranging from music and art workshops to other meaningful social programs.
Leon believes, had Jimi lived to realize his full potential, he would have returned to Seattle and immersed himself in many social issues to help not only the local scene, but an international venue.
"Jimi had a generous heart and the world should know him in that light. By creating such a foundation, this could lay the 'ground work' for young people to follow this example to achieve something greater than themselves", says Leon Hendrix.
Leon's dedication to the youth of the future generations is unwavering. "Wherever in the world the name Jimi Hendrix or The James Marshall Hendrix Foundation has influence, we will join 'hands' with that 'community' in an effort to make a better world.
Leon has inherited his dad's and brother's awareness for love of family and community. He has commissioned the birth of this foundation.
