The JMHF welcomes Dr. David T. Harris! -
06/29/2009
Everyone at the JMHF would like to welcome our newest board member; Dr. David T. Harris. He has been associated with this Foundation for almost three years, and has been a very strong supporter. He brings to us, much crediblity to our Stem Cell program; being a 'top notched' medical researcher in that field.
We have wanted him to donate his time and expertise for a long time. The Foundation is very lucky to have a hunanitarian of this calibre added to our organization.

A
Letter From the CEO, James E. Wiliams

Greetings
Friends of the Jimi Hendrix Foundation!
I hope you are all doing as
well as can be expected in these trying times. We are all
hanging by a thread. Let's hope our new President and his team
can lead us out of this mess into a more fruitful and loving
way of doing business in the future. Just like the rest of the
world, here at the Jimi Hendrix Foundation there's mixed news,
so I'll start with the good news.
Website/e-Store: If
you look around this website, you'll notice that we've been
doing some organizing and refreshing of the old pages. Nothing
drastic, but we've expanded the menu and added our very own
electronic Gift Shop. There are a variety of caps and shirts
for purchase and new donation premiums. Please wander over
there and let us know what you think... maybe even buy a
cool Captain Strata cap with a FlyingVShip. We'll be
adding more items as we go. I know there was some concerns
recently from Jimi fans regarding types of products
that they felt were trivializing Jimi. We've heard you loud
and clear that you don't appreciate those things. We'll
keep it cool!
Legal Battles: This has been a most amazing
several months. Not only are all of our friends battling
against the downhill slide of this protracted recession, but
the Jimi Hendrix Foundation found itself under fire from individuals and
companies trying to wrongfully leverage the use of our name
for their own financial ends. Sadly, we have come to realize
that because we carry Jimi's name, there are a lot of people
out there that don't blink at the chance to misuse our legal
position, without consent of the Board, to convince others
that they can use Jimi Hendrix' name for commercial gain. We have
therefore decided to take on a more assertive stance with
respect defending our rights to the name, likeness and legacy
of Jimi Hendrix to do charitable work.
So there
you have it friends the good news and bad news of the past
several months all rolled up into one soliloquy. I'll try to
get back here and make a statement more often so that I don't
have to cover so much ground at the same time. Thanks for
helping us carry the spirit of Jimi forward to bring love and
goodwill throughout the world. Together, we will make a
difference.
Best wishes to all our friends,
contributors and Jimi fans!
James E. Williams, CEO

| Move Over Mighty Mouse, Captain Strata's
Here! |
| |

The James Marshall Hendrix Foundation, and the man at the helm of it all, Mr. Jimmy Williams, will soon present the first online comic of "Captain Strata." Sure to be a classic cult comic hero, the idea for Captain Strata emerged from the Black Gold tapes.
According to Tony Brown's online article, "Black Gold was the title for a suite of songs Jimi had composed for an idea he had worked on to compliment a film of a cartoon character of the same name. It's really unknown when Jimi first developed these ideas, but he certainly drew on his childhood memories of watching Mighty Mouse." Jimmy Williams affirms that Hendrix was "totally enamoured with Mighty Mouse." And so, the character, named after Hendrix' guitar, evolved.
